November 19, 2013 - Let’s do some shopping today. Thanksgiving is one of the few meals each year where I feel free to take advantage of processed foods to make my day a little bit easier.
Pie Crusts: While I like to make my own pie crusts now, I’m not at all ashamed to say that I used frozen, gluten free pie crusts from Whole Foods for many years. They work very well for single crust pies. They do not work so well, for double-crust apple pies.
And yes, I’ve tried. It tasted good, but it was NOT pretty.
Pillsbury also has a new, refrigerated, gluten free pie crust, but you’d have to roll that out.
Cream Soups: Condensed cream of mushroom soup is easy to make, but you can also buy the Pacific Foods or Progresso gluten free cream of mushroom soup for your green bean casserole and gravy.
Bread: And, while I do like homemade bread the best, a store-bought frozen bread does make bread stuffing and turkey sandwiches a bit more simple.
Today’s Assignment: Go to the store and buy that turkey, if you haven’t already, and pick up a few GF items to make your Thanksgiving prep a bit easier.
