Gluten Free Vegetarian “Sausage Balls” Recipe

I was going through draft posts and found this recipe that has been languishing for a couple of years due to the lack of a photo. Since we’re not eating vegetarian anymore, it will probably be a while before I make these again so I thought I’d go ahead and post it and see if one of my lovely vegetarian readers will make these and send me a picture.

For those of you who aren’t so keen on beans, try my recipe for gluten free sausage balls made with pork sausage. That recipe is one of my Grandmother’s that I’ve converted to be gluten free.

Instructions

Ingredients

  • 1 can kidney beans, drained
  • 1/2 c. Mary’s Gluten Free All Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. rubbed sage
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes
  • 4 oz. cheddar cheese

Cooking

Add dry ingredients (excluding cheese) to a food processor and pulse a few times to mix. Shred cheese using food processor attachment and add it to the other dry ingredients. Put the blade back in the food processor and add beans. Pulse food processor 15 – 20 times until mixture begins to come together into a ball. Separate the dough into 16 balls and bake at 350 until outsides of “sausage” balls are golden brown.
