Hey Mary Frances! Sounds like a great series! Sorry to hear about the allergies. I have a wheat allergy and a dust mite allergy. I am going back in soon because it has been several years since my last round of tests. My husband and I bought a brand new house two years ago and the difference in my allergies has been amazing. I put down hardwood floors too and it makes a difference.

Hi Sheltie Girl - that sounds like a horrible memory. I have similar ones of hominy. It still makes me shiver. If you like gumbo, try my Vegetable Gumbo recipe this winter. It goes together quickly and is great with PBJs. Thanks for stopping by!

Okra...I like it in gumbo...but i can't eat it fried. It brings back too many vivid memories as a kid of okra pan fried in bacon grease with all the little hairs sticking out the sides. In gumbo, all those little hairs are missing...sometimes so is the structure of the okra, but that's another discussion.

Pan Fried Okra...my inability to eat it maybe one more reason that I'm a so-so Southerner (I'm from West Florida). The primary reason would be my extreme dislike for sweet tea...almost makes me a visitor from another world.
